Repair Cafe is returning to Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 at 96 Great Northern Rd. Skilled volunteers will be on hand to help you with the below repairs. To avoid disappointment, please note limits on number of items per person and read guidelines carefully:
- Sewing repairs (max 2 items)
- Small electrical/appliance repairs (1 item)
- Guitar stringing (1 item; PLEASE BRING GUITAR STRINGS WITH YOU)
- Leaky hose repairs (1 item)
- Jewellery repairs (2-3 items)
- Knife sharpening (2-3 items)
When you arrive, you will go through a triage check to see if your items are fixable; if so, you’ll sign up, sign a waiver, and wait your turn for expert help. Volunteers will help you repair your stuff on the spot or advise on next steps if parts are needed.
We don’t offer appointments and have no way to know how many people will show up, so prepare to be patient if there’s a lineup.
Bring recyclable items, too!
In addition to repairs, we will collect the following items to recycle:
- Eyeglasses
- Batteries
- Toner cartridges
- Lock City milk bags
- Clean, gently used shoes
The Friends of the Library will also be present with their pop-up bookstore, with fix-it and gardening books as well as some premium novels.
We thank the following for their help and support:
- Cafe 4 Good
- City of Sault Ste. Marie
- Ergo Office Interiors
- Friends of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library
- Northland Adult Learning Centre (Algoma District School Board)
- Repair Cafe (international)
- Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25
- Volunteers who help organize and staff the Repair Cafe
More about Repair Cafe: More than just a fix-it event!
By repairing, we’re cutting down on waste being sent to the landfill and extending landfill life, keeping valuable materials in use, and sharing skills that help build a circular economy. And repairing saves you money, too.
So join us on October 18 to save your stuff, learn a thing or two, and help keep Sault Ste. Marie a little greener.
