Clean North Scholarships

Clean North has an annual scholarship program for graduating high school students setting off to study the environment. The initial round of funding is for three years, with the first round given out in spring 2021. We will release information about applying for this year’s scholarships at the end of April. 2023 winners

Scholarship objectives 

  • To promote environmental awareness, education, and stewardship among Algoma District youth and encourage a new generation of environmental stewards for our region 
  • To encourage and provide financial support to graduating high school students enrolled full-time in the first year of an Ontario-based university or college program 

Criteria

★ Graduating from a high school in Algoma District in the current year
★ Good academic standing (not on probation/suspension) 
★ Accepted/enrolled full time in an Ontario university/college environmental program for the coming academic year*
★ Record of some community service/extracurricular activities 
★ Reference information from a teacher or supervisor 
★ Application fully completed/returned by this year’s deadline

*Environmental studies includes a broad range of disciplines—environmental science, natural resources, ecology, environmental engineering, conservation biology, sustainable development, environmental law and justice, environmental education, climatology, and more.
