46! That’s how many community garden beds Clean North volunteers helped grow food in this year

This year Clean North volunteers helped grow food in a whopping 46 community garden beds across the Sault! Most of the produce from those beds went to Harvest Algoma to help feed those in need. Check out a recent article by Sault This Week that spotlighted the work of Clean North volunteers at community gardens.

Don McGorman is Clean North’s community gardening lead. He says he got into community gardening after taking master composter training many years ago, which led to the at-the-time-new community garden at the former Red Cross site on Allard St. to recruit him to help with composting. He began growing food as well, and over the years, he and other Clean North volunteers have helped out in one way or another with most of the community gardens across the Sault.
