Greetings and salutations!

Your paper newsletter is on its way to you even as you read this...
but there are a few things I don't want you to miss.

1) the Annual Meeting. 6 pm on Friday, at the Fireball Cafe.
Potluck supper. Beverages will be available for purchase, or you
can bring your own. If you plan to be there, please phone the office
(945-1573) and let us know what you plan to bring for the potluck -
just so we know that not _everybody_ is showing up with desserts!
Not that that would be a bad thing...

2) the Annual Meeting. Yes, I said it twice. It's fun! Come out
and play with the rest of us! And we will be needing two vice-chairs
to put their names forward at that meeting. These are signing
officers, but not "Board members" - Clean North decisions are
made by consensus of all members who come to meetings.
Officers don't have special decision-making authority, they're just
people who promise to pay attention regularly (as opposed to the
members who also pay attention regularly, just haven't promised
to).

3) Volunteer opportunities - we need people to help at the office.
One or two hours a week would be grand! We might give you your
own special area of responsibility, like doing the bank deposit, or
surfing the net looking for funding opportunities, or doing the filing,
or posting stories on the website, or...
So please consider being an office volunteer. You'll meet the most
interesting people!

4) The James Gordon Concert. Buy a ticket, before the rush when
everybody gets their newsletter and realizes that they only have
three days left! Phone the office 945-1573 or email
info@cleannorth.org.

5) Christmas Tree Chipping, phone book recycling, bikes and
parts collection, the usual midwinter recycling fair, is in planning.
We want your great ideas for improving this event. The sooner you
tell us, the more time we have to try to make your ideas happen.
Go ahead, tell us! We won't bite you for it!

6) The Website needs your stories. What have you seen that you
thought "everyone should see this". Send it in, to cleannorth.org.
We'll post it for everyone to see. If it's a story on another website,
give us a link and we'll post that. There's lots of good enviro-info
out there, so go looking and put it up for all of us. And don't be
afraid to comment on a posting on our site. The comments are
what makes our site so interesting.

Have a great Halloween!
