Ursula writes: "EARTH HOUR 2009 - MARCH 28TH - 8:30 pm Please turn off your lights - all of them - for 1 hour at 8:30 pm on Saturday, March 28th. Turning off our lights for an hour is a symbolic event. It won't stop climate change, but it does demonstrate that our individual action is important and adds up to make a big difference, and more importantly, it sends a powerful message to government and world leaders that people want policies and regulations put in place that can achieve meaningful emission reduction to help fight climate change. As of Feb 19th, 500 cities world wide had signed up to participate in Earth Hour. See the WWF web site for more details and to sign up."

from the great-references-online dept.

Here's a link to a Natural Resources Canada publication that will help you beat that 8% increase in PUC rates (not to mention the Gas Company's latest shenanigans!). It's a 138-page booklet called Keeping the Heat In. Clean North has about twenty copies in colour, and you can have one if you stop in to the office sometime before they're gone. But this link will take you to a PDF file of the same document - you can go there and print it out. It will tell you all kinds of great information on how and where to caulk, weatherstrip, insulate, etc. There are many inexpensive ways we can reduce our energy use, and make our homes more comfortable at the same time. Get cozy this winter!
