The EnerGuide for Houses program was developed in 1998 by Natural Resources Canada for three main goals:
- As a tool for Canadians to get unbiased advice as to how to improve the energy efficiency of their home
- Further Canada's climate change goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- Foster the development of energy efficiency in Canadian housing
The EnerGuide for Houses evaluation is designed to tell you where heat is being lost from your home, and how to go about saving that heat and reducing your energy bills. It is focused on the following areas of the home:
- Heating system
- Domestic hot water system
- Attic insulation
- Wall insulation
- Basement insulation
- Windows
- Doors
- Ventilation
- Air leakage
You may qualify for government $$$ rebates if you follow the audit process.
