BOYD a Success

from the seven-out-of-seven dept.
The trucks are gone. The floor is swept. Some of the supplies have been put away. Another successful Clean North event is over, except for the thank you letters. This time, for the first time, we needed that backup second truck. We shipped one full transport plus fourteen more pallets on a second truck. No wonder our backs ache!
The location in the old PUC building was ideal for truck loading, thank goodness, but much less than ideal for our sales table. Good working pentium systems went onto the recycling truck at the end of the day - lots of them. It broke our hearts. Not to mention it didn't do a lot of good for our budget.
Thanks to TransProvincial Freight for two (!) trucks, the PUC for a great big room, the city for helping with tables from the Gardens, and to all our wonderful volunteers.
Recycling Computers And ...
It's good to recycle computers and all assoiciated hardware, but also, alot of it still works. I am trying to start a program to get donations, rebuild/refurbish the computers, and give them away to people in need. There are alot of people of all ages who want one, need one, or should have one, but cannot afford it. With all the stuff that gets thrown away, or recycled and sent somewhere else, alot of this could be fixed and given to people that otherwise, might never be able to get a computer, or other hardware otherwise. I appluad you all for your efforts, I just think caring starts at home.by Kevin Scheuermann on 2003-10-29 05:05:56
