Clean North and the Sault Cycling Club are collaborating on a Community Bicycle Workshop. We need a coordinator to help bring all our volunteers together to make this happen. The posting, and the job description, are below. Gear up and go for it!
Job posting - Community Bicycle Workshop Coordinator
This is a half-time, one year contract position, renewable and potentially expandable to full time, dependent on sustainability of the Community Bicycle Workshop. The ideal candidate will have the skills necessary to develop the Workshop to a financially sustainable venture beyond the period of funding by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Skills sought:
- Excellent communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to write and speak logically and persuasively to a wide variety of audiences. Ability to use electronic mail and internet for research and communication purposes.
- Excellent organization skills. Demonstrated attention to detail and record-keeping. Ability to plan, carry out, and report on projects. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with volunteers at a responsible level.
- A demonstrated keen interest in bicycle transportation is a requirement of this position.
- Knowledge of bicycle mechanics is an asset.
- Experience in proposal development, and a successful track record in securing funding and partnerships, is an asset.

Job Description Coordinator - Community Bicycle Workshop
Reporting to the board of Clean North, the Coordinator is responsible for the safe and efficient implementation and subsequent operation of the Community Bicycle Workshop.
Duties will include:
- Preparing operating plans, including volunteer scheduling and training plans, pricing structure and budgets, publicity plans, and policies and procedures.
- Meeting regularly with the board of Clean North, to present plans for approval, report on progress, evaluate operations, and make recommendations for changes to operating plans.
- Recruiting, scheduling, training, supervising, monitoring, evaluating volunteers to carry out operating plans. Planning, carrying out volunteer appreciation program.
- Soliciting in-kind donations of material assistance and services needed to implement the Community Bicycle Workshop. Keeping records of all donations, acknowledging donations, donor appreciation program.
- Administering budgets, keeping records of sales and of volunteer and staff hours.
- Working with volunteers and Board members, overseeing development and carrying out of publicity events.
Salary for this half-time position will be $16,000 per year (based on a $32,000 full time equivalent). The potential exists for the ideal candidate to develop this position into a full time position based on success in proposal writing and project development.
